About Tae Kwon Do - Introduction
Tae Kwon Do is a spectacular Korean martial art of self defence that focuses on using explosive kicking, striking and blocking techniques. It is practiced by millions world wide and is now the most popular martial art in the UK.
Forms of self-defence are as old as mankind itself, and it would be impossible to trace hand and foot fighting of today back to any single beginning. This is especially so in the case of Tae Kwon Do. Korea is a country with a much varied history, being at the cross roads of Asia. The Mongols, the Manchurians, the Chinese and the Japanese periodically invaded her, but the indigenous people of what is now known as the Korean Peninsula hung on to their own identity.
Tae Kwon Do is a great way to relieve the stresses and pressures of today's society. It benefits everyone regardless of age, shape, size and gender. We presently have students aged from 5 to 65. Learning Tae Kwon Do has many benefits such as:
